We are all getting older, and as we get older we may become a little more vulnerable, especially if our partner has died and we live on our own. We want to maintain our independence and have control over our decisions. We don't want to be persuaded against our will to do anything. Sometimes our closest family believe they are doing the right thing for us, when they are in fact pushing us in a direction we don't wish to go down. We have human rights, and the right not to be coerced.
Citizens Advice Scotland are at the Gillespie Centre every Thursday afternoon 1-3pm to advise us individually about damaging relationships, voting rights, welfare rights, housing problems, neighbourhood disputes, even issues around selling a second hand car and getting a fair deal, and many other problems we encounter in our everyday lives. A little help can keep us independent.
Morag Fleming from CAS will speak to us and there will be plenty of time for questions and discussion. Morag has a lot of experience talking to community groups like ours; you will find this an interesting and important afternoon.
