This is set in 1942 and 2017.

The dates and characters and their descendants are linked from these time frames. The main characters are Jilly and Ivy, life long friends from circa 1942 right up to 2017. We also have Laura, Jay, Willow and Dom in 2017, and briefly Harry? - in both dates!

As in most stories, they all go through a gambit of emotions, to be enjoyed by the reader.

Everything ties up neatly, albeit it in a bit of a contrived way, which we as a group thought made it a pleasant read, marking the title in both senses of the words (in food and in life).

The old recipes in the book for jams and chutneys are a link to the past which conjured up in us all similar reminiscences of family recipes.

This is a book to enjoy, curled up on a sofa in winter or lying relaxed on a beach in summer.
